pagan palooza

Pagan Palooza is a conceptual 3-day event celebrating Pagan and Wiccan traditions, products, and lifestyles. This project for my final web design class tasked me with creating an event and fully designing and prototyping a ‘microsite’ containing 4 pages.

research

I decided to create an event about Paganism after my trip to Salem, Massachusetts. As I already knew quite a bit about Pagan traditions and their culture, I focused on finding guests and vendors and deciding on the specifics like dates, how many days I wanted the event to span, and how I wanted to organize the microsite.

I created a moodboard based around the color palette I wanted to use. I knew I wanted yellow and purple, so I designed around that. Moodboards are extremely helpful in my design process. Being able to put together an identity from a set of images and a color palette is satisfying— and the results are always beautiful!

I also researched UI designs and looked at websites for events like Lalapalooza and Rolling Loud. I wanted something informative, interesting, and eye-catching, different but fitting. After building wireframes, I decided what content would remain, and how it would be presented.

design

I created both a desktop and mobile version of this microsite. I experimented with different shapes, and ended up designing something that I thought was unique.

The rounded shapes are featured throughout the website and create a nice visual flow. The colors I used go well together and provide great contrast, and the elements I designed to go along with the text and images.

I loved working on this project as it was something that I personally enjoyed and had creative freedom over.
